Beveiligingscamera HikVision DS-2CD2083G2-LI2U 2.8mm

The HikVision DS-2CD2083G2-LI2U 2.8mm is an 8MP IP surveillance camera designed for everyday security monitoring of homes and small to medium businesses. It captures high-resolution video with a wide 2.8mm fixed lens, supports improved low-light imaging, and integrates with network video recorders and remote viewing apps. The camera balances image quality and straightforward installation for continuous indoor or sheltered outdoor use.

Advantages

This camera delivers 8MP resolution for clear, detailed footage suitable for identifying faces and license plates at moderate distances. The 2.8mm lens provides a broad field of view for covering entrances, parking areas, and rooms with fewer devices. Built-in low-light enhancement improves visibility in dim conditions, while motion detection reduces storage and bandwidth by prioritizing relevant events. Network connectivity enables remote access and integration with existing IP camera systems.

Suitable for

• Home perimeter and entry monitoring
• Small business storefronts and offices
• Warehouse aisles and loading areas
• Parking lots and outdoor common areas (sheltered)
• Remote monitoring via mobile or desktop apps

Key specifications

• Image sensor: 8-megapixel resolution
• Lens: 2.8mm fixed focal length for wide-angle coverage
• Video modes: High-resolution IP video streaming with common compression formats
• Low-light performance: Enhanced sensitivity and image processing for dim conditions
• Detection: Built-in motion detection and event-triggered recording
• Network: Ethernet connectivity for PoE or standard network power and data (subject to system configuration)
• Mounting: Wall or ceiling mount compatible design for versatile placement

How to use

Mount the camera at the chosen location ensuring the 2.8mm lens covers the desired field of view. Connect the unit to your network switch or NVR using an Ethernet cable; if your installation supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), a single cable can provide power and data. Configure IP settings, video resolution, and motion detection parameters through the camera’s web interface or the compatible management software. Use remote viewing applications to monitor live feeds, review recorded events, and adjust recording schedules.

Recommendations

For optimal results, install the camera at a height of 2.5–4 meters to maximize the 2.8mm lens coverage and place it under shelter if used outdoors to protect against harsh weather. Tune motion detection sensitivity and define motion zones to reduce false alarms from background activity. Combine with an NVR or cloud storage to retain important footage and ensure firmware is kept up to date for security and performance improvements.
