Why choose it

The Akron GTX is built for technical approaches where every step counts. The Vibram® Megagrip outsole sticks to polished rock and loose scree, while the extended lacing system locks your foot in place for precise edging. The GORE-TEX® membrane keeps water out without sacrificing breathability, so your feet stay comfortable during high-output climbs. Garmont's ADD® construction promotes a natural gait, reducing fatigue on long days in the mountains.

Ideal use cases

• Technical approach routes and via ferrata
• Scrambling and easy climbing sections
• Light hiking on rugged trails
• Alpine trekking with a light pack
• Everyday wear on rocky terrain

Good to know

The Akron GTX runs true to size, but if you plan to wear thick mountaineering socks, consider sizing up half a size. The suede upper will develop a patina over time; treat it with a suitable waterproofing spray to maintain performance. The Ortholite® footbed is removable, allowing you to use custom orthotics if needed.
