How to use

Fill the chalk reservoir with appropriate chalk powder, extend the line to the required length and anchor the hook to the reference point. Pull the line taut, lock the handle if needed to keep the string in place, then snap the line against the surface to leave a visible chalk mark. Rewind the line using the crank; the 5:1 gear ratio reduces effort and speeds up retraction. For vertical alignment, allow the unit to hang as a plumb bob.
