1U rackmount-server MITAC R1520G6U2XD met hot-swap 2,5-inch SSD-bays

MITAC R1520G6U2XD is a 1U rack-mount server chassis engineered for environments that require high-density 2.5" hot-swap SSD support in a compact form factor. The chassis accommodates front-access drive bays for fast replacement and maintenance, and is intended as a platform for operating systems, database services, virtualization hosts, or as part of storage array deployments. Its low-profile design optimizes rack space while supporting airflow and cable routing typical for data center installations.

Advantages

The server chassis combines a 1U height with multiple hot-swappable 2.5" drive bays to maximize storage density per rack unit while enabling quick drive swaps without system downtime. The front-access layout reduces service time and simplifies drive maintenance. The compact dimensions make it suitable for racks where space efficiency and airflow management are important. The design supports standard rack mounting and typical internal component layouts used in enterprise servers.

Suitable for

• Operating system and application hosting in space-constrained racks
• Database servers and high IOPS storage nodes using 2.5" SSDs
• Virtualization hosts and hyperconverged infrastructure
• Storage arrays or cache tiers requiring hot-swap SSD capability

Key specifications

• Form factor: 1U rack-mount chassis suitable for standard 19-inch racks
• Drive bays: Front-access hot-swap 2.5" SSD bays (multiple bays configured for high-density storage)
• Cooling: Designed for front-to-rear airflow and compatible with standard rack cooling practices
• Maintenance: Hot-swap drive capability for reduced service time and minimal downtime
• Compatibility: Supports common server motherboard and power supply layouts for 1U systems
• Material and finish: Rack-grade metal chassis constructed for durable server use

How to use

Install the MITAC 1U chassis into a standard 19-inch rack using the included mounting rails or brackets, and secure it to the rack posts. Populate the front-access 2.5" bays with compatible hot-swap SSDs; ensure drives are correctly seated and latched before powering the system. Connect internal power and data cables to the chosen motherboard and storage controller following the system design. Configure the operating system or storage software and verify that the hot-swap drives are recognized. For maintenance, use the front-access trays to remove and replace drives while the system remains operational if the storage controller and software support hot-swapping.

Recommendations

Use enterprise-grade 2.5" SSDs rated for server workloads and ensure firmware compatibility with your storage controller. Maintain proper rack airflow and temperature monitoring when deploying multiple 1U units. Follow static-discharge precautions when handling drives and internal components, and consult your system integrator for optimal RAID or software-defined storage configuration to match performance and redundancy requirements.
