Behringer BOD400 bass overdrive distortion effectpedaal

Bass players seeking to add grit and punch to their tone will find the Behringer BOD400 a reliable companion on stage and in the studio. This compact stompbox delivers warm, tube-like overdrive and aggressive distortion tailored specifically for bass guitar, preserving the low-end foundation while adding harmonic richness. With its intuitive four-knob layout—Level, Tone, Drive, and Blend—you can dial in everything from subtle breakup to full-on grind, and the Blend control lets you mix the dry signal back in to maintain clarity and definition. The BOD400 runs on a 9V battery or optional DC power supply (not included), and its rugged metal chassis is built to withstand the rigors of the road. An LED indicator shows effect status and battery life at a glance. Whether you're laying down a driving rock line or experimenting with fuzzy textures, this pedal expands your sonic palette without breaking the bank.

Why choose it

The BOD400 stands out for its dedicated Blend control, a feature often missing in budget overdrive pedals. It allows you to retain the natural character of your bass while layering in distortion, preventing the muddiness that can plague bass overdrives. The analog circuit delivers a warm, organic response that reacts to your playing dynamics, and the robust metal housing ensures longevity. Plus, the option to run on battery or external power makes it versatile for any setup.

Ideal use cases

• Rock and metal bassists needing aggressive drive without losing low end
• Studio musicians looking for a versatile distortion tool for recording
• Live performers requiring a reliable, easy-to-use pedal on a pedalboard
• Bassists experimenting with blended clean/dirty tones for unique textures

Good to know

The BOD400 uses a standard 9V DC center-negative power supply, compatible with most pedalboard power bricks (not included). A 9V battery can be installed for portable use, and the LED dims to indicate low battery. The buffered bypass ensures signal integrity even with long cable runs. This pedal is part of Behringer's renowned BOD series, known for affordability and solid build quality.
