Compressor/limiter Klark Teknik 2A-KT 2-kanaals 19-inch rackmontage

The Klark Teknik 2A-KT is a two-channel compressor/limiter in a 19" rackmount format that provides reliable dynamic control for professional audio applications. Designed to manage peaks, balance levels and protect downstream equipment, this unit offers independent compression on two channels while fitting standard 19" racks to save space in live sound, studio and broadcast setups.

Advantages

The 2A-KT delivers consistent level control across two separate channels, combining compressor and limiter functions in a compact, rackable chassis. Its straightforward controls allow quick adjustment of threshold and ratio to address transient peaks and overall dynamics. The unit’s rackmount design ensures easy integration into existing audio racks, while robust construction supports frequent use in touring and installation environments.

Suitable for

• Live sound reinforcement where channel dynamics need taming
• Studio tracking and mixing to control instrument or vocal levels
• Broadcast and streaming applications requiring level consistency
• Front-end protection for power amplifiers, preamps and converters

Key specifications

• Two independent audio channels with individual compression/limiting
• Standard 19" rackmount width, 1U or similar compact height
• Analog signal path suitable for line-level sources
• Front-panel controls for threshold, ratio, attack, release and output gain
• Metering for gain reduction and output level visibility
• Durable metal chassis for rack installation and road use

How to use

Install the unit into a standard 19" equipment rack and connect line-level sources to the inputs and the next stage of your signal chain to the outputs. Set input and output levels so the signal is neither clipping nor too low. Use threshold and ratio controls to determine when compression begins and how aggressively peaks are reduced. Adjust attack and release to match the material’s transient behavior, and monitor gain reduction and output meters while fine-tuning make-up gain to restore perceived level.

Recommendations

For live situations, start with moderate threshold and fast attack to control transients without pumping. In the studio, use longer attack and release settings for a more natural sound on vocals and instruments. Regularly check signal gain staging to avoid excessive compression and ensure consistent output levels to downstream equipment.
