Draadloze netwerkadapter HP W500 Mini PCI 802.11b/g, Mini PCI-kaart

HP W500 Mini PCI wireless network adapter supports 802.11b and 802.11g wireless standards and is designed for installation into compatible Mini PCI slots in laptops and embedded systems. The card provides basic Wi‑Fi connectivity for internet access, local file sharing and simple network tasks on legacy devices that require upgrade to wireless b/g networks. Installation is through the Mini PCI interface and the adapter uses standard antenna connections provided by the host device.

Advantages

The HP W500 delivers backward-compatible wireless connectivity with support for both 802.11b and 802.11g, enabling data rates suitable for web browsing, email and basic file transfer. Its Mini PCI form factor allows direct integration into systems with a matching slot without external adapters. The adapter is compact and designed to work with existing laptop or embedded system antenna arrangements, simplifying hardware upgrades for older devices.

Suitable for

• Upgrading older laptops or embedded systems to Wi‑Fi b/g
• Basic internet browsing and email on legacy devices
• Small-scale file sharing and local network access
• Repair or replacement of a failed Mini PCI wireless card

Key specifications

• Wireless standards: IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g
• Form factor: Mini PCI card
• Frequency band: 2.4 GHz
• Data rates: up to typical 11 Mbps (802.11b) and up to typical 54 Mbps (802.11g)
• Interface: Mini PCI connector for internal installation

How to use

Power off and unplug the host device, open the access panel to reach the Mini PCI slot and carefully insert the HP W500 card into the slot at the appropriate angle until it is seated. Secure the card with the mounting screw if present and reconnect any internal antenna leads to the card's antenna connectors. Reassemble the device, power it on and install appropriate drivers in the operating system if not detected automatically. Configure wireless network settings through the OS network manager to connect to available 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi networks.

Recommendations

Use this adapter in systems that have a compatible Mini PCI slot and existing antenna connections. For best stability, ensure drivers are up to date and place the host device where 2.4 GHz signal strength is adequate. This card is intended for legacy b/g networks and may not support modern security features or higher throughput of newer standards.
