Sangean MMR-99 DAB+ Portable Emergency Radio in Artic Camo is a compact receiver engineered for situations when mains power is unavailable. It supports DAB+ digital radio and FM reception, and includes multiple power options: a hand crank for manual charging, an integrated solar panel for daylight charging, and internal battery operation. The compact form factor and rugged Artic Camo finish make the radio suitable for outdoor use and easy to carry in backpacks or emergency kits. Simple controls and clear tuning support straightforward operation under stress.

How to use

Charge the internal battery before first use via the hand crank or by placing the radio in direct sunlight to use the solar panel. To receive broadcasts, switch the radio to the desired band (DAB+ or FM) and tune to available stations using the tuning control. For manual charging, rotate the hand crank at a steady pace until sufficient charge is reached; consult the device indicators for charging status. Use the radio in a well-ventilated area when relying on solar charging to maximize energy intake. Store the radio in a dry place and avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures to preserve battery life and electronic components.

Recommendations

Keep the Sangean MMR-99 powered periodically even when not in active use to maintain battery health. Test the hand crank and solar charging functions periodically as part of an emergency kit checklist. When indoors and near mains power, recharge the internal battery if an external charging option is available to ensure full readiness for outdoor or emergency situations.
