Explore Scientific 68° oculair 28mm 2 inch

Wide-field observation often forces a choice: either you get a broad, immersive view or you get comfortable eye relief and sharpness across the field. The Explore Scientific 68° Eyepiece 28mm 2" eliminates that compromise, delivering a 68° apparent field with a generous 20mm eye relief and a fully multi-coated 7-element optical system.

Who is it for

Visual astronomers who use telescopes with 2" focusers and want a single eyepiece for sweeping star fields, large nebulae, and open clusters. It suits both long-focal-length refractors and large Dobsonians where low power and wide true field are essential.

Main features

• 68° apparent field of view for an immersive, spacewalk feel
• 28mm focal length for low-power, wide-field views
• 2" (50.8mm) barrel fits standard 2" focusers and diagonals
• 20mm eye relief works well with eyeglasses
• 7-element optical design with high-index glass for sharp, high-contrast images
• EMD (Enhanced Multilayer Deposition) fully multi-coated lenses maximize light transmission
• Waterproof and argon-purged to prevent internal fogging and corrosion
• Fold-down rubber eyecup for comfortable viewing with or without glasses
• Anodized aluminum housing with blackened lens edges to reduce stray light
• Standard 2" filter threads for nebula and light-pollution filters

Tips

For the widest true field, pair this eyepiece with a telescope of 1000mm focal length or longer. The 2" barrel allows a larger field stop than 1.25" eyepieces, making it ideal for large deep-sky objects. When using filters, thread them directly into the eyepiece barrel for convenient swapping.
