Extralink CAT6A FTP (F/UTP) outdoor twisted pair-kabel met gel 305 m EX.96587

The Extralink EX.96587 is a Category 6A foil-screened (F/UTP) outdoor twisted-pair installation cable supplied on a 305 m (1000 ft) reel. The four unshielded twisted pairs are enclosed in a single overall aluminium foil screen with a drain (earthing) wire, while the core is flooded with water-blocking gel and wrapped in waterproof tape under a UV-resistant polyethylene (PE) jacket. This sealed, gel-filled construction lets the cable be run outdoors, underground or in damp ducts, and it supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T) across the full Cat6A bandwidth of up to 500 MHz.

Advantages

The gel filling and waterproof tape block moisture ingress along the cable length, so the link keeps performing even when buried, in conduit or exposed to rain, while the tough PE outer jacket resists UV and a wide temperature range for long outdoor service. The overall foil (F/UTP) screen suppresses external electromagnetic interference and protects the high-speed signal over long runs, and the solid bare-copper conductors keep DC resistance low for stable transmission. The cable also remains backward compatible with Cat6 and Cat5e equipment, making it a future-proof backbone for outdoor links.

Suitable for

• Outdoor structured cabling between buildings, masts and outbuildings
• Direct-burial and underground duct runs (gel-filled, water-blocked)
• 10 Gigabit Ethernet backbones and high-speed point-to-point links
• Outdoor IP cameras, wireless access points and PoE devices
• Feeding outdoor-rated patch panels, network outlets and keystone modules

How to use

Pull the required length from the reel along the planned outdoor or underground route, keeping within the cable's minimum bend radius and avoiding sharp kinks. Cut to length, strip the PE jacket, wipe away the gel, fold back the overall foil screen and bond the drain wire to ground at the patch panel, then untwist each pair minimally and terminate onto Cat6A or Cat6 keystone jacks, patch panels or RJ45 plugs following the T568A/T568B colour scheme. Maintain shield continuity and earth the screen at the rack, and seal or gland every outdoor entry point to keep water out. After installation, test each link with a certified cable tester to confirm wiring and Cat6A performance.

Recommendations

For reliable 10 Gigabit operation keep individual runs within the 100 m channel limit, use outdoor-rated shielded connectors and enclosures, and ground the foil screen per your bonding scheme. Protect both ends against moisture with sealed glands or weatherproof boxes, observe the rated bending radius and tensile limit while pulling, and certify every installed run to ISO/IEC 11801 Class EA before commissioning.
