Its small footprint and low weight make it easy to pack and set up, while the design focuses on practicality and fuel efficiency for short excursions and field cooking.

Advantages

The Fire‑maple FMS‑X3 Black combines a minimal pack size with dependable performance, offering quick boil times and straightforward flame control. Its lightweight construction reduces carried load without sacrificing stability on flat ground or small rocks. The cooker is compatible with standard threaded canister fuel systems, enabling efficient fuel use and simple attachment. Overall the design emphasizes portability, ease of use and reliable operation in typical outdoor conditions.

Suitable for

• Backpacking and minimalist overnight trips where weight and size matter
• Day hikes and picnics requiring a fast boiling stove
• Car camping as a compact backup or secondary cooker
• Preparing hot drinks, dehydrated meals and simple one‑pot dishes

When it may not be suitable

This single‑burner stove is not intended for large‑group cooking or extended basecamp use where multiple burners or high continuous output are needed. It also may be less suitable in extremely windy conditions without a dedicated windscreen, and it is not designed for use with liquid fuel systems or heavy cookware that exceeds the burner’s stability limits.

Key specifications

• Burner type: single‑burner gas canister stove designed for threaded canisters
• Form factor: compact, low‑profile portable cooker with folding pot supports
• Weight: ultralight class suitable for backpacking (manufacturer lists as lightweight)
• Material: metal alloy components intended for outdoor cookware use
• Flame control: adjustable valve for simmering and rapid boil
• Packability: small folded dimensions for easy storage in a backpack

How to use

Set the Fire‑maple FMS‑X3 Black on a stable, level surface clear of combustible material. Attach a compatible threaded gas canister according to the fuel supplier and stove instructions, ensuring a secure connection. Open the valve slightly and ignite the burner with a lighter or built‑in ignition if present, then adjust the flame using the control valve to reach the desired heat. Place appropriately sized cookware on the pot supports and monitor cooking; turn off the valve fully after use and allow the stove to cool before disassembling and packing.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify compatibility with the type of threaded gas canisters available in your region
• Consider wind protection or a portable windscreen if you often cook in exposed locations
• Match cookware size and weight to the stove’s pot supports and stability limits
• Assess whether a single‑burner stove meets your group size and cooking needs

Recommendations

For efficient fuel use, start with a medium flame to bring water to a near‑boil, then reduce to finish cooking or simmering. Use low, stable winds and flat surfaces to maximize stability and safety. Regularly inspect connections and seals before each trip and carry spare fuel canisters appropriate to expected trip duration.
