Flitser, Canon Speedlite EL-5 — slave-flitser, Li-Ion LP-EL accu, 491 g, zwart

Canon Speedlite EL-5 is a compact slave flash designed to provide additional controlled lighting for Canon cameras. The unit is supplied in black and uses a removable rechargeable lithium‑ion LP‑EL battery for repeated use. Weighing 491 g, the Speedlite EL‑5 is intended for off‑camera slave operation and can be integrated into event, studio or on‑location setups where a reliable, portable flash head is required.

Advantages

The flash offers portable power and consistent performance through its dedicated rechargeable battery, reducing the need for frequent disposable cell replacement. Its compact size and moderate weight make it convenient to position as an off‑camera slave unit, while compatibility with Canon camera systems supports straightforward integration in multi‑flash setups. The black finish minimizes reflections and visual distraction in studio and event environments.

Suitable for

• Event photography requiring additional off‑camera light
• Portrait and studio setups as a secondary or rim light
• On‑location shoots where battery power and portability are important
• Multi‑flash configurations where a slave unit is required

How to use

Install a fully charged LP‑EL battery into the flash and ensure contacts are clean before mounting. Set the unit to slave mode and place it off‑camera at the desired angle and distance relative to the subject. Triggering can be controlled optically or via the camera’s wireless system when used within a compatible Canon setup; confirm synchronization settings on both the camera and master unit. Adjust flash power and any built‑in zoom or diffusion settings to achieve the required exposure and light quality. After shooting, switch the unit off and remove the battery if storing for extended periods.

Recommendations

Use a fully charged LP‑EL battery and check thermal limits during continuous high‑output use. Position the slave flash to avoid direct reflection into the lens and use modifiers or bounce techniques to soften light when shooting portraits or close subjects.
