Hama 00205177 kabel-gender-changer ODT Toslink zwart

The Hama 00205177 Cable Gender Changer ODT Toslink Black is a compact inline adapter that joins two ODT Toslink optical cables to extend or reroute digital audio connections. Designed for audiovisual systems, it maintains optical signal continuity between two standard Toslink leads without introducing electrical interference. The adapter's black housing and compact form factor make it discreet in home theater setups and media cabinets.

Advantages

This Toslink gender changer provides a straight optical connection between two ODT Toslink cables, preserving digital audio integrity for PCM and multichannel audio formats. Gold-plated contacts and precisely aligned optical interfaces reduce insertion loss and help ensure minimal signal attenuation. Its compact, robust enclosure offers a secure mechanical connection while remaining easy to install and handle.

Suitable for

• Extending or joining Toslink optical audio cables
• Home theater audio connections between TVs, soundbars and AV receivers
• Connecting digital audio sources such as CD players, DACs and game consoles

Key specifications

• Connector type: ODT Toslink to ODT Toslink
• Function: optical cable gender changer / coupler
• Housing colour: black
• Contact plating: gold-plated optical contacts for improved connection reliability
• Form factor: compact inline adapter suitable for confined spaces

How to use

To use the adapter, align each Toslink cable end with the adapter's ODT Toslink ports and push gently until the connector seats securely. Ensure both cable ends are clean and free of dust to avoid reduced signal performance. After connection, position the adapter so the cables are not sharply bent or stressed; the coupler requires no power or configuration and operates immediately after physical connection.

Recommendations

For best results, use short, good-quality Toslink cables and avoid repeated disconnection to maintain optical interface integrity. Keep the optical ports covered when not in use to prevent dust ingress and check alignment if any audio dropouts occur.
