HPE LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 SAS-station

For data centers and enterprises that demand reliable, high-capacity archival storage, this HPE LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 SAS drive delivers 18 TB native capacity per cartridge and up to 45 TB compressed. It fits a standard 5.25-inch bay and connects via 12 Gb/s SAS, making it ideal for backup, disaster recovery, and long-term retention in rack servers or tape libraries.

Why choose it

This drive doubles the capacity of LTO-8 and delivers up to 1 TB per hour compressed throughput, significantly reducing backup windows. Hardware encryption and WORM support help meet compliance requirements, while backward read compatibility protects your existing tape investments.

Ideal use cases

• Enterprise backup and disaster recovery
• Long-term archival of large datasets
• Compliance and regulatory data retention
• Replacing older LTO-7 or LTO-8 drives in existing libraries

Good to know

The drive is a half-height unit, so two can fit side by side in a full-height bay. It is compatible with LTO-9 and LTO-8 media for writing, and can read LTO-7 tapes. No cables or media are included; a separate SAS cable and LTO-9 cartridges are required.
