Netwerkswitch HP Enterprise J9986A-RFB 24 poorten 10/100/1000BASE-T met PoE

HP Enterprise J9986A-RFB is a managed network switch with 24 RJ45 ports that support 10/100/1000BASE-T connectivity and Power over Ethernet (PoE). The switch is designed for business networks and centralizes both data and power distribution over standard Ethernet cabling, enabling connection of computers, IP phones, wireless access points and other PoE-capable devices. The device is suitable for office, campus or branch deployments that require reliable gigabit switching and PoE support.

Advantages

The switch provides 24 gigabit copper ports with PoE capability, simplifying installation of powered devices by removing separate power cabling. As a managed device, it offers configuration and network management features appropriate for business environments, enabling traffic segmentation and coordinated device provisioning. The compact 24-port layout conserves rack space while allowing centralized connectivity and power delivery in a single unit.

Suitable for

• Office networks connecting desktops, printers and IP phones
• Wireless access point aggregation and PoE power feed
• Small to medium branch or campus wiring closets
• Environments requiring managed switching and centralized PoE

Key specifications

• Brand: HP Enterprise
• Model / MPN: J9986A-RFB
• Ports: 24 × RJ45
• Speeds supported: 10/100/1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet)

How to use

Install the switch in a suitable rack or on a flat surface near existing network cabling and a power source. Connect each network device to the RJ45 ports using Cat5e or better Ethernet cables to achieve 10/100/1000BASE-T performance. Configure PoE settings and network features via the switch management interface according to site requirements, including VLANs, port assignments and power allocation for PoE endpoints. Integrate the switch into the broader network topology by connecting uplinks to routers or core switches.

Recommendations

Use appropriate cable categories (Cat5e/Cat6) for gigabit links, review PoE budget when connecting multiple powered devices to ensure sufficient power allocation, and apply management configurations such as VLANs and QoS to match business traffic requirements. For best results, place the unit in a ventilated area and follow HP Enterprise documentation for firmware updates and advanced configuration.
