Interne bewakingsharde schijf Western Digital Purple 2 TB SATA III WD20PURZ

Western Digital Purple 2TB (WD20PURZ) is a 3.5" internal SATA III hard drive engineered for surveillance recording systems. With 2 TB of usable capacity, it is designed to store continuous video streams from multiple cameras and to operate reliably in DVR and NVR environments. The drive incorporates firmware tuned for surveillance workloads to maintain recording consistency and to minimize dropped frames during 24/7 operation.

Advantages

The drive offers sustained write performance suitable for concurrent video streams and is optimized for long-term, continuous operation. Its firmware reduces interruptions and improves error recovery in multi-bay surveillance systems, while the 3.5" form factor and standard SATA III interface ensure compatibility with most desktop DVR and NVR units. The unit balances storage capacity and operational stability for archival retention of surveillance footage.

Suitable for

• Home and small business DVR/NVR surveillance systems
• Multi-camera recording setups requiring continuous 24/7 operation
• Archive storage of video footage with moderate retention periods
• Replacement or upgrade of existing surveillance hard drives

Key specifications

• Capacity: 2 TB
• Form factor: 3.5 inch
• Interface: SATA III (6 Gb/s)
• Designed workload: continuous surveillance recording
• Optimized firmware for multi-stream video write
• Operating mode: intended for 24/7 operation

How to use

Install the 3.5" drive into an available bay of your DVR or NVR following the device manufacturer’s installation procedure. Connect the drive to the system board using a SATA data cable and attach power via the standard SATA power connector. Initialize and format the drive within the recorder’s storage management interface if required, and configure recording settings (resolution, frame rate, retention policy) according to the number of cameras and available capacity. Monitor drive health periodically through the recorder’s diagnostics or via S.M.A.R.T. reporting if supported.

Recommendations

Use this drive specifically in surveillance-grade systems; maintain adequate ventilation in multi-bay enclosures and follow scheduled checks for firmware updates and system logs to ensure continuous reliable recording. For prolonged retention or high camera counts, consider RAID or additional capacity planning.
