Interne DVD-RW-drive Dell Y2W73 8-voudige snelheid, herschrijfbaar DVD±R/RW, SATA-interface

The Dell internal DVD RW optical drive model Y2W73 is a 5.25-inch half-height internal drive designed for desktop and tower systems with a SATA interface. It supports reading and writing of standard DVD and CD formats, with an 8x maximum write speed for DVD media and full compatibility with rewritable DVD+/-R and DVD+/-RW discs. The drive provides a straightforward method for media playback, software installation from optical discs, data backup to recordable media and recovery of legacy files stored on CD or DVD.

Advantages

This internal DVD RW drive offers reliable optical read/write functionality in systems that still require disc media. Its SATA interface ensures compatibility with modern desktop motherboards, while the 8x write speed balances recording time and burn quality for typical backup and media creation tasks. The drive supports both DVD+R/DVD-R and rewritable DVD formats, enabling repeated use for incremental backups or temporary data transfer. Its standard form factor fits most 5.25-inch drive bays without additional adapters.

Suitable for

• Installing software or drivers from DVD and CD media
• Creating and restoring backups on DVD±R and DVD±RW discs
• Playing DVD video and audio discs on a desktop PC
• Reading archived files from legacy optical media
• Writing data discs for transfer between systems without network access

How to use

Install the drive into an available 5.25-inch internal bay in your desktop or tower chassis and connect a SATA data cable to the motherboard and a SATA power connector from the power supply. After powering on the system, the drive should be detected by the BIOS/UEFI and the operating system. Use standard disc-burning or media playback software to read, write or play discs. When writing discs, select the appropriate format (DVD±R for one-time recording or DVD±RW for rewritable use) and verify the session if your software offers verification to ensure data integrity.

Recommendations

For best results, use good-quality blank discs from reputable manufacturers and avoid interrupting the burn process. Allow the drive to warm up and avoid moving the chassis during disc operations. Keep firmware and operating system drivers up to date to maintain compatibility and stability with contemporary desktop systems.
