Interne HDD HP 500 GB 5400 tpm 7 mm SED (model 933853-011)

HP Internal HDD 500GB 5400RPM 7mm SED is a slim 2.5-inch internal hard drive that provides 500 gigabytes of storage in a 7 mm low-profile form factor. With a 5400 RPM spindle speed and hardware-based Self‑Encrypting Drive (SED) capability, this drive combines everyday storage capacity with on-drive encryption to help protect data at rest. It is intended for installation in notebooks, compact desktops and system upgrades where a thinner drive and built-in data protection are required.

Advantages

The drive’s 7 mm thickness enables use in thin notebooks and small-factor systems without additional adapters. The 5400 RPM spindle speed balances energy efficiency and quiet operation while delivering adequate performance for general-purpose storage. Built-in SED functionality enforces hardware-level encryption, reducing reliance on software encryption and aiding compliance with basic data protection policies. The drive’s standard 2.5-inch interface simplifies integration with common laptop and small desktop drive bays.

Suitable for

• Notebook storage upgrades where low profile drives are needed
• Compact desktop systems and small form factor PCs
• Business devices requiring hardware-based drive encryption
• Secondary storage for multimedia, documents and backups

Key specifications

• Capacity: 500 GB
• Form factor: 2.5-inch, 7 mm height
• Rotational speed: 5400 RPM
• Security: Self‑Encrypting Drive (hardware-based encryption)
• Interface: standard SATA for 2.5-inch drives
• Typical use: notebook and small desktop internal storage

How to use

Install the drive into the 2.5-inch bay of a compatible notebook or small desktop following the system manufacturer’s instructions. Connect the drive using the standard SATA power and data connectors and secure it with appropriate mounting screws or brackets if required. If SED functionality is to be used, configure encryption and access control through the host system’s BIOS/UEFI or management software according to enterprise or manufacturer guidelines. Initialize and format the drive in the operating system before first use.

Recommendations

Place the drive in systems that support 7 mm 2.5-inch drives and confirm compatibility with the host SATA interface. For secure deployments, enable and verify SED features using supported management tools and ensure key management practices are in place. Maintain regular backups as hardware encryption protects data at rest but does not replace backup strategies.
