NAS-desktop SYNOLOGY DP340 met R1600 CPU, 16 GB RAM, 32 TB HDD, 4 bays, RAID-ondersteuning, zwart

The SYNOLOGY DP340 is a desktop NAS and backup appliance powered by an R1600 CPU, equipped with 16 GB of RAM and four drive bays that together hold 32 TB of installed HDD capacity. Designed for centralized storage and backup, this black chassis desktop device supports both HDD and SSD media, offers hardware RAID protection and Ethernet LAN connectivity. The DP340 comes preconfigured to run Synology ActiveProtect Manager, providing integrated backup, deduplication, replication and restore capabilities while supporting enterprise-grade protections such as immutability and air-gapped backups.

Advantages

The DP340 combines the compact form factor of a desktop NAS with purpose-built backup software, enabling quick deployment thanks to automated disk partitioning and RAID setup. It supports a wide range of workloads and platforms, provides self-healing through checksums and RAID repair, and includes features for ransomware resilience such as WORM-style immutability, encryption and isolated backup environments. Hardware and software integration improves backup efficiency via SSD caching for metadata and source-side deduplication to reduce bandwidth and storage usage.

Suitable for

• Small office centralized file storage and scheduled backups
• Home offices and power users requiring multi-drive storage with RAID protection
• Edge or branch office backup appliance with immutability and air-gap options
• Environments that require automated backup policies for virtual machines, servers and cloud services

How to use

Install the DP340 in a stable, well-ventilated location and connect it to your local network via Ethernet. Power on the device and follow the initial configuration wizard to complete disk partitioning and RAID array setup, which the appliance can perform automatically. Use the ActiveProtect Manager interface to discover workloads, assign backup policies, schedule backup jobs and configure retention and immutability settings. For restore operations, select file-level, machine-level, P2V or V2V recovery workflows and choose the recovery point and target location according to your recovery time objectives.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, keep the DP340 firmware and ActiveProtect software up to date, place the unit on a stable surface with adequate airflow, and configure regular automated backups and verification drills. Use RAID plus immutability for critical data, enable encryption if data is replicated offsite, and restrict management access through directory integration and network rules to reduce security risks.
