NAS-opslagserver SYNOLOGY DS425+ — 4-bay, Intel Celeron J4125 2,0–2,7 GHz, 2 GB DDR4, 0 TB, 2,5GbE, 2 M.2-sleuven

The Synology DS425+ provides 2.5GbE connectivity and flexible internal storage options. It accepts 2.5" and 3.5" SATA HDDs and SSDs in its bays and includes M.2 NVMe slots to add cache drives, enabling faster I/O for frequently accessed data. The device is designed to serve as a private cloud, offering centralized file storage with remote access from desktop clients, mobile apps, and a web browser.

Advantages

The DS425+ combines higher-than-gigabit network throughput with support for both HDD and SSD media, allowing balanced capacity and performance. M.2 NVMe cache support improves responsiveness for common tasks. Built-in tools for file versioning and access control make it possible to restore previous file states after accidental deletion or corruption and to share data securely across multiple devices and platforms.

Key specifications

• Network: built-in 2.5GbE connectivity
• Drive bays: supports 2.5" and 3.5" SATA HDDs and SSDs (internal bays)
• M.2 support: M.2 NVMe slots for cache drives
• Use case: private cloud, centralized file storage and collaboration

How to use

Install compatible 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives into the internal bays and optionally install M.2 NVMe modules into the M.2 slots to enable cache acceleration. Connect the DS425+ to your local network via the 2.5GbE port, configure storage volumes and shared folders through the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) web interface, and create user accounts and permissions. Install Synology mobile apps or desktop clients to sync and access files remotely.

Recommendations

For best performance, pair high-capacity HDDs for bulk storage with NVMe cache modules and SSDs for frequently accessed data. Keep regular backups and enable file versioning to recover from accidental deletions or ransomware events.
