NETGEAR GS105EP unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) Power over Ethernet (PoE) grijs

The Netgear GS105EP is an unmanaged Gigabit PoE switch that delivers five 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ‑45 ports for simple network expansion. Designed for small offices and installations requiring basic Power over Ethernet support, the GS105EP supports IEEE 802.1p QoS and energy‑saving IEEE 802.3az features. The compact, grey housing is fanless for silent operation and can be placed on a desktop or mounted to a wall using the included hardware.

Advantages

The switch provides Gigabit connectivity across five ports with four PoE+ capable ports, allowing simultaneous data and power delivery to IP cameras, wireless access points and other PoE devices without separate power supplies. Built‑in QoS (IEEE 802.1p) and VLAN support enable basic traffic prioritization and network segmentation to improve performance and security. A 2000‑entry MAC address table ensures reliable frame forwarding for small networks, and IEEE 802.3az energy efficient Ethernet reduces power consumption during low activity.

Suitable for

• Small office networks requiring simple Gigabit expansion with PoE
• IP camera deployments where PoE power and quiet operation are needed
• Wireless access point installations that benefit from centralized PoE
• Edge connectivity for desktop devices and compact network segments

How to use

Install the Netgear GS105EP by connecting your network devices to the RJ‑45 ports using standard Ethernet cables. Power the switch using the included power adapter; PoE‑capable ports will provide power automatically to compliant devices when connected. For basic network separation and traffic control, configure port‑based or 802.1Q VLANs and use QoS settings where supported by connected equipment. No complex management is required for standard operation—typical deployment is plug‑and‑play.

Recommendations

Place the switch in a well‑ventilated location and avoid obstructing airflow despite its fanless design. Use quality Cat5e or Cat6 cables for Gigabit performance and ensure connected PoE devices do not exceed the total available PoE budget. For installations requiring more advanced management or larger port counts, consider managed switches; for compact PoE distribution and quiet operation, the GS105EP is suitable.
