NETGEAR GS108EPP Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) Power over Ethernet (PoE) desktop/wandmontage grijs

The Netgear GS108EPP is an 8-port PoE+ switch that supplies a combined PoE budget of 123 W in a fanless, compact design suitable for desktop or small rack installations. It delivers Power over Ethernet to compatible devices such as IP phones, wireless access points and network cameras while providing basic managed switching features that simplify small office and home network deployments. The metal housing and silent operation allow flexible placement where noise and space are a concern, and integrated PoE eliminates the need for separate power injectors for connected devices.

Advantages

The switch offers eight Ethernet ports with PoE+ capability and a total power budget of 123 W to power multiple devices simultaneously. Its fanless operation ensures quiet performance, and the compact chassis supports both desktop placement and mounting in smaller racks. The device includes basic switching functions for traffic control and VLAN support, which help segment network traffic without complex configuration. Plug-and-play connectivity for non-managed features and straightforward PoE operation reduce deployment time.

Suitable for (tasks / use cases)

• Providing power and network connectivity to IP phones in small office environments
• Connecting and powering wireless access points in branch offices or home networks
• Supplying network and power to PoE security cameras for small surveillance setups
• Simple network expansion where limited managed features and PoE are required

Key specifications

• Number of ports: 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE+ support on all or selected ports
• Total PoE power budget: 123 W
• PoE standard: IEEE 802.3at (PoE+); backward compatible with IEEE 802.3af
• Form factor: compact, metal chassis suitable for desktop placement or small rack mounting
• Cooling: passive, fanless design for silent operation
• Switching features: basic managed features including VLAN support and traffic prioritization

How to use

Install the switch on a desktop or secure it in a small rack using the supplied mounting brackets if required. Connect the switch to your router or upstream network device using a standard Ethernet cable on one of the LAN ports. Plug PoE-capable devices such as IP phones, wireless access points or cameras into the switch ports using Cat5e/Cat6 cables; the switch will negotiate power delivery automatically for compatible devices up to the available PoE budget. Configure any available management features (VLANs, QoS) through the switch’s web-based interface or management utility if network segmentation or traffic prioritization is needed.

Recommendations

Plan device allocation according to the 123 W PoE budget to avoid overloading the switch. Use higher-quality Cat5e or Cat6 cabling for reliable Gigabit connectivity and proper PoE delivery. When deploying multiple power-hungry devices, verify per-port power requirements and distribute load across ports to stay within the total power budget. For environments requiring advanced management or higher scalability, consider a fully managed switch with greater PoE capacity.
