Netwerkkaart HP Z2 2.5GbE LAN Flex Port Adapter — 2,5 Gigabit Ethernet, Flex Port, PCIe (B96W7AA)

The HP Z2 2.5GbE LAN Flex Port adapter is a PCIe network interface card engineered to provide 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for compatible workstations. Designed for use in supported HP systems, the adapter follows HP's Flex Port approach to integrate into system slots and provides higher-than-gigabit LAN throughput for faster file transfers, smoother media playback and improved network responsiveness during collaborative tasks.

Advantages

This adapter increases network bandwidth to 2.5 Gbps over standard copper Ethernet cabling, enabling faster data transfer without requiring fiber or complex infrastructure changes. The PCIe form factor and Flex Port compatibility simplify installation in supported HP workstations. The card is suitable for mixed office and creative workflows where larger files, high-resolution media or concurrent network tasks are common, and it offers a straightforward upgrade path from 1 Gbps network interfaces.

Suitable for

• Workstations handling large file transfers and backups
• Media editing and playback environments requiring higher throughput
• Small office and team collaboration over LAN
• Network upgrades from 1 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps without rewiring

Key specifications

• Interface: PCI Express (PCIe) card
• Network speed: 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet
• Port type: Copper Ethernet (RJ-45) for standard CAT5e/CAT6 cabling
• Compatibility: Designed for supported HP workstation Flex Port slots
• Form factor: Low-profile or standard bracket options depending on system

How to use

Power down the workstation and disconnect power before opening the chassis. Install the PCIe card into an available compatible slot and secure the bracket. Reconnect power and boot the system; install or update network drivers provided by the system vendor or HP support site if the operating system does not automatically recognize the adapter. Configure network settings in the operating system or network management tools to enable 2.5GbE operation and test link speed using network diagnostics or management software.

Recommendations

For best results, use Cat5e or Cat6 cabling and network switches or routers that support 2.5GbE to achieve full 2.5 Gbps throughput. Verify that the workstation model supports the Flex Port adapter and consult system documentation for any firmware or driver updates before installation.
