Modules met hoge dichtheid verminderen het gebruik van DIMM-slots, zodat er meer RAM per server mogelijk is met minder fysieke modules – ideaal voor virtualisatiehosts, in-memory-databases en SAP HANA-implementaties.
DDR4 RDIMM en 3DS: specificaties uitgelegd
RDIMM (Registered DIMM) gebruikt een registercomponent om commando- en adressignalen tussen de geheugencontroller en de DRAM-chips te bufferen, wat de elektrische stabiliteit bij hogere capaciteit en snelheid verbetert. 3DS (Three-Dimensional Stacked) DRAM stapelt meerdere DRAM-dies verticaal in één package en bereikt zeer hoge dichtheden (64 GB, 128 GB per DIMM) zonder verlies van signaalintegriteit.
