Oculair Skywatcher SWA-58 8 mm 1,25 inch voor telescopen, ontwerp met grote oogafstand

Skywatcher SWA-58 8mm 1.25 inch eyepiece is a compact optical accessory designed for visual observation with a wide range of telescopes that accept a 1.25" barrel. With an 8 mm focal length, the eyepiece delivers higher magnification suitable for detailed views of the Moon, planets and brighter deep-sky objects. The SWA series emphasizes a wide apparent field and comfortable eye relief to support prolonged observing sessions with reduced eye strain.

Advantages

The eyepiece combines a relatively wide apparent field with an 8 mm focal length to balance magnification and viewing comfort. Its 1.25" barrel fits standard focuser and diagonal interfaces, making installation quick and secure. The optical design provides clear edge-to-edge performance for visual astronomy, while the compact form factor keeps the unit lightweight and easy to swap during an observing session.

Suitable for

• Planetary observation and detailed lunar viewing
• High-magnification visual work on bright deep-sky objects
• Use with refractor, reflector and catadioptric telescopes that accept 1.25" eyepieces
• Portable observing setups and quick eyepiece changes in the field

Key specifications

• Focal length: 8 mm
• Barrel diameter: 1.25 inches (standard)
• Optical series: SWA-58 (wide apparent field design)
• Design emphasis: comfortable eye relief for visual use
• Form factor: compact, lightweight eyepiece for easy handling

How to use

Insert the 1.25" barrel into the telescope focuser or diagonal and secure with the focuser thumbscrew. Start with the telescope roughly collimated and focused on a bright object, then adjust the focuser to obtain the sharpest image. For higher stability and comfort at higher magnifications, use a sturdy mount and allow the telescope to reach thermal equilibrium with the surrounding air. If the eyepiece includes a rubber eyecup, adjust or fold it for optimal eye relief and to block stray light.

Recommendations

Use this 8 mm eyepiece for medium- to high-magnification targets; pair it with a low- or medium-power eyepiece to cover a broader range of views. Keep the eyepiece optics clean and store it in a protective case when not in use to preserve optical performance.
