SSD-behuizing TERRAMASTER D4 SSD USB4 40Gbps, desktop-4-bay externe opslag (D4 SSD)

TERRAMASTER D4 SSD is a desktop 4-bay external SSD enclosure that connects via USB4 40Gbps to provide high-speed external storage. The unit accepts up to four SATA or NVMe SSDs (verify drive compatibility with your specific drives) and is intended to expand storage capacity and accelerate file transfers for desktops and workstations. The enclosure supports hot-swap operation and features a compact, tool-accessible design for straightforward drive installation and replacement.

Advantages

The enclosure's USB4 40Gbps interface delivers significantly higher transfer bandwidth compared to standard USB connections, enabling faster backups and large-file transfers. Support for both SATA and NVMe SSDs (confirm compatibility) allows flexible configuration according to performance and capacity needs. Hot-swap capability simplifies drive maintenance and replacement without powering down the host system. The desktop form factor and tool-accessible bays provide convenient, space-efficient placement beside a workstation.

Suitable for

• High-speed external storage for desktops and workstations
• Video and photo editing workflows requiring fast read/write performance
• Local backups and archival storage with multiple SSDs
• Data transfer between systems using USB4 40Gbps

Key specifications

• Interface: USB4 with up to 40Gbps theoretical throughput
• Bays: 4 drive bays supporting SATA and NVMe SSDs (drive compatibility varies)
• Form factor: Desktop, 4-bay external enclosure
• Drive handling: Hot-swap support for easy drive replacement
• Installation: Tool-accessible bay design for direct drive installation

How to use

Power off the enclosure if required by the model instructions, open the tool-accessible bays and insert compatible SATA or NVMe SSDs into the drive slots, securing them according to the enclosure's mounting method. Connect the enclosure to a host computer using a USB4-capable port and the provided cable. The host operating system should detect the attached drives; initialize, format, or configure them as needed for your backup, editing, or storage workflow. For hot-swap operations, follow the host OS guidelines for safely removing storage before physically swapping drives to avoid data loss.

Recommendations

Verify that your host computer has a USB4-capable port and the required drivers or firmware updates to achieve optimal performance. Use SSD models that meet your capacity and performance requirements and consult drive manufacturer compatibility notes if necessary. When performing critical backups or edits, maintain regular backup procedures and ensure proper cooling and ventilation around the enclosure to support sustained high-speed transfers.
