Stanley FatMax I-Beam magneetwaterpas 200 cm 1-43-558

On a busy construction site, a carpenter checks the alignment of a long wall, relying on a level that stays firmly in place on metal studs. The Stanley FatMax I-Beam Magnetic Spirit Level 200 cm (1-43-558) is built for such demanding tasks, combining a robust I-beam profile with powerful rare-earth magnets. Its 200 cm length spans wide surfaces, while the three block vials—horizontal, vertical, and 45-degree—ensure precise readings in any orientation. The high-grade aluminum body resists bending, and shock-absorbing end caps protect against drops. Bi-material hand grips provide a secure, comfortable hold, even with gloves. This level is a dependable tool for professionals and serious DIYers who need accuracy and durability on the job.

Why choose it

The I-beam design offers superior structural integrity compared to box levels, reducing flex and maintaining accuracy over time. The magnetic base is a game-changer when working with steel framing, pipes, or ductwork—freeing your hands to adjust materials. The 45-degree vial is especially useful for tasks like stair stringers or angled bracing. Stanley's FatMax series is known for professional-grade quality, and this level is no exception, delivering consistent performance in harsh environments.

Ideal use cases

• Framing and drywall installation on metal studs
• Setting large format tiles or countertops
• Aligning steel beams, columns, and machinery
• Checking slopes and drainage with the 45-degree vial
• General carpentry and masonry work

Good to know

The level is 200 cm long, making it suitable for wide spans but may be cumbersome in tight spaces. The magnets are strong but work only on ferrous metals; for non-magnetic surfaces, use the level as a standard spirit level. The block vials are highly visible and resistant to leakage, ensuring long-term reliability. No batteries or electronics are required—it's a purely mechanical tool that works in any temperature. A storage case is not included, so consider a protective sleeve or bag for transport.
