Storage-autoloader & -bibliotheek Quantum SuperLoader 3 bandcassette 288 TB

The Quantum SuperLoader 3 is an entry-level automated tape storage appliance designed for small businesses and remote offices that need offline data protection. This 2U rack-mounted autoloader supports LTO tape technology and combines a native capacity of 288 TB (720 TB compressed) with hardware AES-256 encryption, WORM support, and integrated management tools. It is intended to provide economical, portable, and air-gapped backup and archive storage that is simple to install and manage by IT staff with limited tape library training.

Advantages

SuperLoader 3 delivers scalable, reliable tape-based backup and archiving with high performance and efficient data reduction. It supports fast backup and restore throughput, includes a barcode reader for simplified media management, and offers remote diagnostics and management to reduce on-site administration. With hardware encryption and WORM compatibility it meets compliance and security requirements, while DATASTOR Shield deduplication reduces stored data up to 20:1 to increase effective capacity per tape.

Suitable for

• Small and remote office backups
• Long-term archival and compliance retention
• Air-gapped protection against ransomware
• Environments with limited IT staff or tape expertise

How to use

Install the SuperLoader 3 in a standard 2U rack space, connect to your backup server via SAS (12 Gbit/s) and configure the included management software. Load LTO cartridges and, if required, enable AES-256 encryption or WORM functionality per your compliance needs. Configure backup jobs in your backup application, and optionally enable DATASTOR Shield deduplication to increase effective capacity. Use the barcode reader and management interface to track media and review system diagnostics; remote monitoring can be used to receive proactive service alerts.

Recommendations

Use LTO cartridges matched to your chosen LTO generation to achieve the specified native and compressed capacities and throughput. For long-term retention and regulatory compliance, enable WORM cartridges and hardware encryption. To maximize storage efficiency, enable DATASTOR Shield deduplication when supported by your backup workflow. Keep the device in a controlled environment and perform regular maintenance of media and drives per vendor guidelines.
