How to use

Install the RS4021XS+ into a standard 19" rack and connect power and network interfaces. Populate drive bays with supported HDDs or SSDs and configure RAID arrays through Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). Use the built-in 10GbE or add compatible NICs via PCIe slots to increase network throughput. Enable Btrfs and configure snapshots, Snapshot Replication, and Hyper Backup for data protection. For surveillance, install Surveillance Station, connect IP cameras and configure recording and alert rules.

Recommendations

For best results in multi-user or virtualization environments, enable ECC memory, provision SSD cache using Synology NVMe adapter cards or 2.5" SAT5200 SSDs to improve IOPS, and deploy dual power supplies. Schedule regular snapshots and off-site backups with Hyper Backup to minimize recovery time and protect against data loss.
