UV-filter Walimex pro slank Super DMC 55mm – 55 mm objectiefbescherming

The Walimex pro Slim Super DMC 55mm UV filter is a slim 55 mm front lens protector designed to reduce ultraviolet haze while safeguarding the lens surface. Its thin frame minimises the risk of vignetting on wide-angle lenses and maintains neutral colour rendering, making it suitable for outdoor and travel photography as well as everyday use. The filter mounts on lenses with a 55 mm thread and provides a physical barrier against dust, moisture and light scratches.

Advantages

The slim metal frame reduces mechanical vignetting on wide-angle optics while keeping overall weight and profile low. A multi-coated quartz glass element controls UV transmission and helps preserve accurate colour balance. The filter screws securely into the front thread and can remain mounted during transport or shooting, offering continuous protection without affecting autofocus or exposure metering.

Key specifications

• Filter diameter: 55 mm (screw-in)
• Frame type: slim, low-profile metal mount
• Optical element: multi-coated quartz glass for UV suppression
• Effect on image: reduces UV haze while preserving colour neutrality
• Compatibility: designed for lenses with a 55 mm front thread; suitable for wide-angle and standard lenses

How to use

Align the filter threads with the lens front thread and rotate clockwise until the filter seats firmly; avoid over-tightening. The slim profile allows use on wide-angle lenses with minimal vignetting. Leave the filter mounted for everyday protection or remove it when using specialised filters (e.g., polariser or strong ND) that require stacking. Clean the glass with a soft lens cloth or blower and if necessary use a lens cleaning solution applied to the cloth, not directly to the filter surface.

Recommendations

When composing outdoor scenes with strong backlight or at high altitudes, the UV filter helps reduce atmospheric haze and improves clarity. For long-term protection during travel, keep the filter mounted and store the lens in a padded case. Avoid overtightening to prevent cross-threading, and inspect the filter periodically for dirt or damage to maintain image quality.
