How to use

Hold the sharpening steel vertically with the tip resting on a stable surface. Place the knife blade at a shallow angle (typically 15–20°) against the rod and draw the blade down and across the steel from heel to tip in a smooth motion. Repeat on the other side of the blade several times until the edge is aligned. Use light, consistent pressure and keep the motions controlled for best results.

Recommendations

Use the Opinel Mini sharpening steel for frequent, light maintenance rather than restoring severely dull or damaged blades. For heavily worn edges, begin with a sharpening stone or a dedicated sharpening system before finishing on the steel.
