Accesspoint Sophos AP6 420X 2,4 GHz 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6

The Sophos AP6 420X is a cloud-managed Wi-Fi 6 access point designed for indoor use and managed from the Sophos Central platform. It supports dual-band operation on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with a maximum aggregate data rate of 2975 Mbit/s, WPA3 security, and PoE power delivery. The AP6 Series is intended for deployments that require scalable, centrally managed wireless connectivity; local single-AP management is also available. Note: AP6 Series access points cannot be managed from Sophos firewalls — for firewall-manageable models, see the APX Series.

Advantages

The AP6 420X provides high throughput suitable for medium to high-density environments while maintaining broad device compatibility through Wi‑Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax). Centralized cloud management in Sophos Central enables unified control alongside other Sophos security products. Built-in WPA3 support enhances wireless security, and Power over Ethernet simplifies installation by reducing cabling needs.

Suitable for

• Office areas with medium to high user density
• Retail stores and public indoor venues
• Locations requiring centralized cloud management of multiple access points

How to use

Install the AP6 420X in a suitable indoor location with clear coverage of the target area and connect it to a PoE-capable switch or injector to provide power. Add the access point to Sophos Central for cloud-based provisioning and monitoring, or configure local management if you intend to manage a single AP. Use the Sophos Central interface to create SSIDs, configure WPA3 security, apply access policies, and monitor client throughput and radio performance.

Recommendations

Place the access point centrally relative to client devices to maximize coverage, avoid physical obstructions and large metal surfaces, and ensure the PoE source supplies up to 30 W. For high-density deployments, plan channel allocation and placement to minimize interference and register devices in Sophos Central for consistent policy application.
