TP-Link EAP245 access point delivers high-performance wireless connectivity with QCA enterprise-class chipsets, a dedicated high-power amplifier and a professional antenna. Using 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO technology, it provides combined speeds up to 1750 Mbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, long-range coverage and stable connections for business environments.

Advantages

Enterprise-grade hardware and Wave 2 MU-MIMO optimize throughput and client capacity while 802.11k/802.11v support enables seamless roaming between access points for uninterrupted VoIP and video sessions. Flexible power options with 802.3af PoE and passive PoE simplify installation, and cloud-based centralized management with the Omada Controller enables remote monitoring and configuration. A captive-portal guest network with SMS and Facebook authentication provides controlled visitor access.

Key specifications

Wireless standard: 802.11ac Wave 2 (dual-band)
Maximum combined speed: up to 1750 Mbps (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz)
Chipset: QCA enterprise-class
Roaming: 802.11k / 802.11v seamless roaming
Guest access: captive portal with Facebook Wi‑Fi and SMS login
Power options: 802.3af PoE or Passive PoE (adapter included)
Management: Omada Cloud Controller (OC200) and Omada Software Controller; Omada mobile app

How to use

Physically mount the EAP245 on a wall or ceiling using the included bracket, then power the device via a PoE switch or the supplied passive PoE adapter. Connect the Ethernet uplink to your network and follow the setup steps in the free Omada app or the Omada Software Controller to adopt the access point into your network. Configure SSIDs, guest portal authentication and roaming settings through the controller and monitor device status remotely via the Omada cloud.

Recommendations

For best coverage and uninterrupted roaming, deploy multiple EAP245 units managed by a single Omada Controller and place access points to provide overlapping coverage areas. Use PoE switches for simpler centralized power and ensure guest portal authentication is configured if public access is required.

Eindoordeel: For now, the TP-Link EAP245 didn't really rise up to the expectation, mostly because of the disappointing wireless speed performance, but, if it turns out that I got a bad unit, then this can be improved; besides that, the EAP245 has a very good heat mana...
