Actieve subwoofer Omnitronic AZX-118A, 400 W, 18-inch driver

The Omnitronic AZX-118A is a powered subwoofer with a robust 18" driver and 400W nominal power, engineered to reproduce low-frequency content with authority. Designed for use alongside full-range loudspeakers in PA systems, DJ rigs, clubs and event setups, this subwoofer delivers focused bass reinforcement that improves overall sound balance and punch. Its active amplifier section and dedicated low-frequency transducer simplify integration into live-sound and fixed-installation applications while providing reliable performance for portable rigs.

Advantages

The powered design eliminates the need for an external amplifier and ensures optimized gain structure and protection for the driver. The large 18" woofer offers extended low-frequency response and high excursion capability for deep, articulate bass. Built-in features enable easy connection to mixers and full-range cabinets, and the unit is suitable for both mains-powered permanent installations and road use thanks to its rugged enclosure and practical mounting options.

How to use

Place the AZX-118A on a stable surface or use the recommended mounting orientation for compatibility with satellite speakers. Connect the subwoofer to your mixer or the subwoofer output of a controller using line-level cables, then connect full-range cabinets to the output or use separate outputs as your system requires. Set the low-pass crossover and level controls to blend the subwoofer with your main speakers, starting with conservative gain settings and increasing until the bass balance is correct. Allow brief break-in time at moderate levels to stabilize the driver before full-volume operation.

Recommendations

For consistent performance, position the subwoofer to minimize destructive room modes — try corner or near-wall placement for more output, and use time alignment or crossover adjustment to achieve a cohesive low-frequency response with full-range speakers. Avoid extreme levels for prolonged periods and allow proper ventilation for the amplifier section during extended use.
