Afbreekmes Stanley FATMAX 18 mm

The Stanley FATMAX Snap Off Knife 18mm is a utility knife designed for precise cutting in a range of workshop and on-site tasks. It features an 18mm snap-off blade that provides a long cutting edge and easy renewal of a sharp point by breaking off a worn segment. The body combines a sturdy construction with an ergonomic profile to provide control during straight and angled cuts on cardboard, vinyl, foam board, drywall paper, and similar materials.

Advantages

The 18mm blade gives increased strength and cutting width compared with narrower blades, reducing the number of passes required. The snap-off system enables fast and safe blade renewal without special tools. A robust handle design improves durability and maintains alignment between blade and housing for consistent performance. The mechanism locks the blade securely at the chosen length to minimize movement during cutting.

Suitable for

• Cutting cardboard and corrugated boxes
• Trimming vinyl flooring and carpet underlay
• Scoring drywall paper and gypsum board
• Opening packaging and cutting plastic sheeting
• Precision trimming of foam board, poster board and similar materials

Key specifications

• Blade width: 18 mm
• Blade type: snap-off segmented blade
• Handle: reinforced plastic with ergonomic profile
• Blade locking: adjustable locking mechanism for fixed blade position
• Blade change: tool-free snap-off replacement

How to use

Extend the blade to the desired length and engage the locking mechanism to secure it. Make steady, controlled cuts using moderate pressure and maintain the correct blade angle for the material. When the cutting edge becomes dull, use the built-in snap-off tool or a hard surface to break off the used blade segment at a score line, then retract the blade before storing. Replace the entire blade strip when all segments are used, following the manufacturer's guidance for safe disposal of spent segments.

Recommendations

For safe operation, always cut away from your body and wear appropriate hand protection when working with tough materials. Retract the blade fully when not in use and store the knife out of reach of children. Use compatible 18 mm segmented blades specified for utility knives to maintain cutting performance and safety.
