AOC CBO BlueOptics QSFP28 BO282803L5M 100G actieve optische kabel, 5 m

The AOC CBO BlueOptics QSFP28 BO282803L5M 100G active optical cable, 5 m, is a duplex active optical link designed for short-reach 100 Gbit/s connections in data centers and high-performance networking environments. It uses a QSFP28 connector form factor intended for direct attach applications between servers, switches and other 100G-capable equipment. The cable provides optical transmission across a 5 metre distance and is engineered to reduce electromagnetic interference while maintaining low latency and reliable throughput.

Advantages

This active optical cable delivers 100 Gbit/s bandwidth over a compact 5 m duplex link suitable for cloud and enterprise racks. Because it is an optical medium rather than copper, it reduces susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and eliminates the need for additional transceivers in certain direct-attach configurations. The QSFP28 form factor supports native 100G ports and enables simplified cable management with a lightweight, flexible assembly adapted for dense rack environments.

Suitable for

• Server-to-switch 100G direct attach connections
• Switch-to-switch uplinks inside data centre racks
• High-throughput aggregation and spine-leaf fabrics
• Short-reach connections in hyperscale and enterprise networks

Key specifications

• Data rate: 100 Gbit/s duplex
• Connector type: QSFP28 duplex form factor
• Cable type: active optical cable (AOC)
• Length: 5 metres
• Transmission medium: multimode optical link for short-reach applications
• Designed characteristics: low latency, reduced electromagnetic interference, flexible assembly for dense cabling

How to use

Install the AOC by plugging each QSFP28 connector into compatible 100G ports on the devices to be linked, ensuring proper orientation and secure seating. No external power source or separate transceivers are required beyond compatible QSFP28 sockets; the cable’s active components are powered via the host ports. Verify link status and interface configuration on connected devices according to vendor guidelines and use standard network diagnostics to confirm 100G operation.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, use this 5 m active optical cable within rack or adjacent-rack connections and avoid tight bends or sharp kinks. Confirm QSFP28 compatibility and port settings on both ends before deployment. Keep connectors clean and store the cable in a manner that prevents crushing or excessive twisting to maintain signal integrity.
