ASUS RS720-E11-RS24U Intel C741 rack (2U) zwart, zilver

Asus RS720-E11-RS24U is a 2U rackmount server chassis supplied without CPU, designed to accommodate high-density storage and scalable 10G networking in data center and enterprise environments. This model provides 24 front-accessible drive bays in a compact 2U form factor and supports modular networking and storage controller configurations. The chassis is intended for installations where processors are chosen and installed separately to match specific workload and performance requirements.

Advantages

The 24-bay design maximizes usable storage capacity within a 2U footprint, enabling dense disk configurations for storage arrays and archival systems. Native 10G connectivity options allow for higher throughput and reduced network bottlenecks in virtualization, backup, and clustered compute environments. The server chassis is delivered without CPUs, offering flexibility to select processors that best suit performance, power, and licensing constraints. Front-access drive bays and a rack-optimized layout simplify maintenance and drive replacement in operational deployments.

Suitable for

• High-density storage arrays and NAS/SAN deployments
• Virtualization hosts and hyperconverged infrastructures
• Backup and archiving systems requiring large disk counts
• Compute clusters and GPU/accelerated nodes where CPUs are fitted separately
• Enterprise environments demanding 10G network throughput

Key specifications

• Form factor: 2U rackmount chassis with 24 front-accessible drive bays
• CPU: chassis supplied without processors; supports server-grade CPUs when installed
• Network: built for 10G connectivity options and modular NIC configurations
• Storage: high-density support for 24 drives—compatible with hot-swap drive trays
• Expansion: internal bays and PCIe slots for storage controllers, HBAs, or network cards
• Maintenance: front-accessible drives and rack-optimized design for ease of service

How to use

Install appropriate server-grade processors, memory modules, and storage devices according to the workload requirements and compatibility lists. Configure RAID or software-defined storage controllers as needed, populate the 24 drive bays with the chosen disk types, and install network interface cards or 10G modules to enable required connectivity. Mount the chassis in a compatible 19-inch server rack, connect power and network cabling, and perform firmware and BIOS configuration before deploying workloads.

Recommendations

Choose processors and memory that match the intended use case—storage-heavy deployments may prioritize higher-capacity drives and HBAs, while compute-focused nodes should be fitted with appropriate CPU cores and PCIe expansion. Use enterprise-grade drives and maintain a tested backup and monitoring plan; ensure firmware and drivers are kept up to date to maintain network and storage performance at 10G speeds.
