Backplate Thermal Grizzly S-TG-BP-R7000 aluminium zwart efficiënte warmteafvoer

The Thermal Grizzly S-TG-BP-R7000 aluminium backplate in black is engineered to improve thermal performance by providing a stable, thermally conductive mounting surface for compatible CPU coolers. Constructed from aluminium with a matte black finish, this backplate helps distribute and dissipate heat away from the CPU area while also reinforcing the cooler mounting to reduce flex and improve contact pressure. It is designed as an AM5 M4 retrofit backplate that replaces the original AM5 backplate to allow the use of coolers requiring M4 threaded mounting screws instead of the UNC 6-32 thread.

Advantages

The aluminium construction offers a balance of light weight and effective heat conduction, while the black surface improves corrosion resistance and visual integration with modern PC builds. By converting the mounting thread to M4, the backplate increases compatibility with a wider range of CPU coolers, particularly AiO watercoolers and other coolers that ship with M4 hardware. The rigid design provides a more secure mounting platform, which can improve long-term stability and cooler contact consistency.

Suitable for

• Systems requiring an AM5-compatible backplate with M4 threaded mounting
• AiO watercoolers and air coolers that include M4 mounting screws
• PC builds where improved mounting stability and thermal conduction are desired
• Upgrading or replacing a damaged or incompatible original AM5 backplate

Key specifications

• Material: aluminium
• Finish: black, matte surface
• Thread type: M4-compatible mounting (suitable for coolers using M4 screws)
• Compatibility: designed for AM5 socket backplate replacement
• Function: passive heat dissipation and mounting reinforcement

How to use

Power down the system, disconnect power and peripherals, and ground yourself before beginning installation. Remove the existing AM5 backplate according to the motherboard and cooler instructions. Position the Thermal Grizzly aluminium backplate on the rear of the motherboard aligning the AM5 socket cutouts and secure it using the cooler’s M4 screws and spacers as required by the cooler manufacturer. Refit the cooler on the CPU, ensuring even contact and correct torque on mounting screws to achieve uniform pressure. Reconnect the system and verify cooler seating and fan/pump operation after powering on.

Recommendations

Use the backplate only with coolers that specify M4 mounting hardware and follow the cooler manufacturer’s installation guide. Avoid overtightening screws to prevent motherboard or backplate deformation. If thermal interface material (TIM) is replaced during installation, apply and spread TIM according to the CPU cooler maker’s instructions for optimal thermal transfer.
