Brother MFC-J6959DW is a multifunction inkjet device designed for small and medium office environments that require A3 output. It supports colour printing, copying, scanning and faxing with a maximum print resolution of 1200 x 4800 dpi and a rated black A4 speed up to 30 pages per minute. The MFC-J6959DW accepts A3 media and roll paper for banners and posters, and offers automatic duplex for print, copy, scan and fax. Connectivity options include wired Ethernet and dual-band Wi‑Fi with Wi‑Fi Direct and WPS, while a robust build and advanced printhead technology target sustained business use.

Advantages

The unit provides high-resolution colour output suitable for documents, posters and photographic prints, with a fast mono/colour scan engine and automatic two-sided scanning. Roll-paper support and an automatic cutter enable banner and panoramic printing without manual trimming. Networked connectivity (Ethernet, 2.4/5 GHz Wi‑Fi, Wi‑Fi Direct) and mobile printing support simplify integration into office workflows. Duplex across all functions and optional high-yield inks reduce media handling and lower running costs for frequent A3 and A4 jobs.

Suitable for

Office work requiring A3 documents, drawings and posters
Marketing materials and banner/panoramic photo printing from roll paper
Departments needing networked multifunction capabilities (print/copy/scan/fax)
Workflows that benefit from automatic duplex and fast two-sided scanning

Optical scanning resolution: up to 1200 x 2400 dpi
Maximum paper size: A3; supports roll paper with automatic cutter
Duplex: automatic 2-sided print, copy, scan and fax
Connectivity: Ethernet LAN, dual-band Wi‑Fi (2.4/5 GHz), Wi‑Fi Direct, WPS
Borderless printing and banner/poster support
Automatic two-sided scanning speed: up to 36 ipm (A4, mono and colour)
Internal memory: 512 MB
Weight: 28.796 kg; product colour: Grey

How to use

Install the printer on a stable surface with sufficient clearance for A3 media and roll paper. Connect to the local network using Ethernet or the Wi‑Fi setup method (WPS or manual configuration) and install Brother drivers or the Brother iPrint & Scan app on workstations and mobile devices. Load paper or roll media into the appropriate tray or roll holder and set paper size and type in the driver or control panel before sending print jobs. For banner or roll printing, set the required length and select borderless mode if needed; the device will automatically cut roll media after printing.

Recommendations

Use genuine Brother inks and optional high-yield cartridges when available to achieve rated page yields and consistent colour output. Enable duplex and appropriate driver settings for two-sided scanning and printing to optimise media usage. For frequent A3 or banner production, maintain a clear paper path and perform periodic printhead cleaning as recommended in the user guide to preserve print quality.

10/10

Eindoordeel: I had high expectations for this high-spec inkjet with its huge feature set and equally huge price tag, and I was not disappointed. It looks just like the rest of Brother's X-Series business inkjets, but the ability to automatically print and cut banners...
