CBO SFP28 AOC BlueOptics BO272703Q3M, 3 m actieve optische kabel

The CBO SFP28 AOC BlueOptics BO272703Q3M is a 3 m active optical cable engineered for SFP28 ports to deliver a direct, plug-and-play fiber connection for short-reach links. Designed for high-speed 25GbE environments, this AOC connects switches, servers and storage equipment with a single, integrated cable assembly that eliminates separate transceiver and fiber patchcord handling. The cable provides low latency and strong resistance to electromagnetic interference, making it suitable for dense rack deployments and data center interconnects where predictable performance and compact cabling are required.

Advantages

This active optical cable simplifies installation by combining transceiver electronics and multimode fiber into one pre-terminated assembly, reducing rack clutter and minimizing connector mating points. Its optical transmission reduces signal degradation over copper at similar distances, while the SFP28 form factor maintains compatibility with standard 25GbE ports. The low power consumption and reduced heat generation support high-density switch and server configurations. Overall, the AOC offers a reliable, low-latency link with immunity to electromagnetic interference.

Suitable for

• Short-reach 25GbE connections between switches and leaf/spine fabric
• Server-to-switch uplinks in racks and top-of-rack deployments
• Storage area network (SAN) and direct-attached storage connections
• High-density data center cabling where space and cable management are critical

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP28 electrical/optical integrated plug
• Length: 3 metres
• Data rate: designed for 25 Gigabit Ethernet (25GbE)
• Cable type: active optical cable with integrated transceivers and fiber
• Latency: low propagation delay suitable for high-performance networking
• Immunity: resistant to electromagnetic interference compared to copper
• Power: low power consumption appropriate for high-density installations

How to use

Install the AOC by inserting the SFP28 connectors into compatible SFP28 ports on networking equipment until the latch engages. Ensure both ends are seated in devices that support 25GbE SFP28 modules and that firmware or port settings allow active optical modules. No separate transceiver or fiber patchcord is required. Verify link status through the device management interface and check that link speed and duplex are negotiated correctly. For best results, route the cable to avoid sharp bends and secure it within the rack using standard cable management practices.

Recommendations

Use this AOC in short-reach scenarios inside racks or across adjacent racks; avoid extended outdoor or direct-burial installation. Maintain minimum bend radius specified by the manufacturer, keep connectors free of dust, and store unused ends with protective caps. For compatibility, confirm SFP28 port support for active optical cables and verify link diagnostics after installation.
