Excentrische schuurmachine Metabo SXA 18 LTX 125 BL

The Metabo SXA 18 LTX 125 BL orbital sander is a cordless 18 V tool designed for sanding and surface finishing on a 125 mm (12.5 cm) sanding disc. With a maximum idle speed of 10,000 RPM, an oscillation rate of 20,000 OPM and a 2 mm orbit diameter, this sander provides efficient material removal and consistent surface results. The brushless motor offers steady power while the lightweight construction at 1.1 kg supports extended handheld operation. The tool’s compact design and battery operation make it suitable for jobsite mobility and tasks where mains power is not convenient.

Advantages

The orbital sander combines high rotational speed and a fine orbital stroke to balance rapid stock removal with reduced risk of sanding marks. The brushless drive increases motor efficiency and durability while contributing to longer runtime per battery charge. At 1.1 kg the tool reduces operator fatigue during prolonged use, and the 125 mm disc size suits both broad surface work and access to tighter areas compared with larger-format sanders. Battery-powered operation eliminates cords for improved maneuverability.

Suitable for

• Sanding and smoothing wooden surfaces, panels and furniture parts
• Removing old paint or varnish on medium to large surfaces
• Preparing surfaces for painting, lacquering or sealing
• Light metal deburring and surface refinement
• On-site finishing where portability is required

How to use

Fit the appropriate 125 mm abrasive disc according to the material and grit required, ensuring the disc is secured to the sander pad. Install a charged 18 V battery and verify the tool’s on/off and speed controls before beginning. Start sanding on a low speed to establish control, then increase speed as needed for material removal while maintaining even pressure and steady motion across the surface. Move the sander with overlapping passes to avoid creating uneven spots and allow the tool to do the work without excessive downward force. Periodically check the abrasive disc for wear and replace when the grit is depleted. Follow all battery and charger manufacturer instructions for safe charging and handling.

Recommendations

For consistent finishes, begin with a coarser grit and progress to finer grits in stages. Use appropriate dust extraction or a vacuum connection where available to reduce airborne dust and prolong abrasive life. When working on edges or detailed areas, reduce pressure and use controlled, short strokes. Always wear suitable personal protective equipment such as eye protection and a dust mask when sanding.
