Externe harde schijf Silicon Power 4TB USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 A66

The Silicon Power Armor A66 external hard drive provides 4TB of portable storage with a USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 interface. Designed for outdoor and everyday use, the drive combines a rubber bumper, IPX4 water resistance and a military-grade shockproof structure to protect data during travel or on-site work. The compact black-and-yellow housing includes a built-in cable-carry feature for convenient transport and reduced risk of losing the cable.

Advantages

The Armor A66 offers robust physical protection meeting MIL-STD 810G Method 516.6 Procedure IV drop test requirements and includes a 360° rubber bumper and an internal suspension system to absorb impacts. IPX4-level water resistance defends against splashes from any direction. With a USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection, it supports transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps and provides a large 4TB capacity for photos, video footage, backups and large file transfers.

Suitable for

• Backing up photos and video from cameras or drones
• Transporting large media libraries between locations
• Fieldwork and on-site data collection where durability is required
• Expanding storage for laptops or desktops with USB Type-A ports

When it may not be suitable

This drive is not designed for full immersion in water or operation in heavy rain; IPX4 protects only against splashes. It also relies on a USB Type-A connection; systems without a Type-A port may require an adapter or cable with a compatible connector.

Key specifications

• Capacity: 4 TB
• Interface: USB Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbps)
• Protection: MIL-STD 810G shockproof design with rubber bumper and internal suspension
• Water resistance: IPX4 (splash resistant)
• Color: Black and Yellow
• Weight: 0.328 kg

How to use

Connect the Armor A66 to a computer using the included USB Type-A cable; the drive will be recognised by most modern operating systems and is ready for file transfer without additional drivers in most cases. Use standard file copy or backup software to move data to the drive. Store the drive in its bumper-protected housing during transport and secure the built-in cable in the carry slot to avoid losing it.

What to consider before purchase

• Ensure your computer or device has a USB Type-A port or obtain a compatible adapter/cable.
• Understand IPX4 protects only against splashes, not full submersion.
• Consider whether a solid-state drive (SSD) is preferable if you need faster sustained speeds or greater resistance to vibration.

Recommendations

For reliable performance, connect the drive directly to a USB port on your computer rather than through an unpowered hub, regularly back up important files, and avoid exposing the drive to heavy rain or submersion despite its splash resistance.
