Externe HDD-behuizing FANTEC MB-X5U31H voor 5×3,5-inch drives, USB 3.1

FANTEC MB-X5U31H is an external HDD enclosure that accommodates up to five 3.5‑inch hard drives and connects to a host system via USB 3.1. The enclosure is intended as a compact multi-bay storage solution for expanding capacity, consolidating files, creating backups or building a simple media server. It supports straightforward drive installation and provides a single-cable interface for data transfers and power delivery to the unit.

Advantages

The multi-bay design enables consolidation of several 3.5‑inch drives into one external unit, reducing cable clutter and centralizing storage management. USB 3.1 connectivity provides higher transfer speeds compared with older USB standards, facilitating large file transfers and backups. The enclosure is designed for easy access to drive bays for quick installation and replacement, and its compact footprint helps integrate multiple drives into desktop or small office setups.

Suitable for

• Expanding desktop storage capacity
• Centralized backups and archiving of large datasets
• Temporary replacement for NAS-style usage or media serving
• Consolidating multiple internal drives into a single external unit

Key specifications

• Drive bays: up to five 3.5‑inch hard drives
• Host interface: USB 3.1 for data transfer
• Power: external power supply included for multi‑drive operation
• Cooling: integrated fan(s) for active airflow to maintain drive temperatures
• Form factor: compact multi‑bay desktop enclosure

How to use

Install 3.5‑inch hard drives into the accessible bays according to the enclosure's mechanical guides and secure them as instructed by the manufacturer. Connect the external power supply, then attach the enclosure to a computer using the USB 3.1 cable. The host operating system will detect each drive; if required, initialize, partition and format drives using the OS disk management tools before storing data. For safe removal, use the operating system's eject or safe‑remove procedures prior to disconnecting the cable or switching off the power.

Recommendations

Place the enclosure on a stable, flat surface with sufficient ventilation and keep vents clear. Use appropriate filesystem formats for your operating system and consider regular backups and monitoring of drive health when consolidating important data. Avoid moving the enclosure while drives are spinning and follow safe‑disconnect procedures to reduce the risk of data loss.
