Gietijzeren ovenschaal Staub 40509-356-0 3,8 l groen, rond

Round cast iron casserole Staub 40509-356-0 3.8 L in green is a heavy-duty enameled cast iron pot designed for slow cooking and serving. Its 3.8-litre capacity and round shape suit a variety of stovetop and oven recipes, offering consistent heat distribution and long heat retention for braising, stewing and roasting. The durable enamel finish resists sticking, simplifies cleaning and provides an attractive presentation from oven to table.

Advantages

The Staub cast iron casserole delivers steady, even heating across the cooking surface and retains heat for extended periods, which supports low-and-slow techniques and keeps food warm when served. The enameled interior and exterior reduce reactive contact with ingredients and are easier to maintain than raw cast iron. Its robust construction is suitable for frequent use on multiple heat sources and the lid design helps preserve moisture during long cooks.

Suitable for

When it may not be suitable

This cast iron casserole is heavy compared with thinner cookware; it may be less convenient for users who prefer lightweight pots or who have limited lifting ability. It is not designed for induction-specific features beyond standard cast iron compatibility (it works on induction but requires appropriate cookware care).

How to use

Preheat gradually when using on a stovetop or in an oven to avoid thermal shock to the enamel. Use low to medium heat for long cooks; high heat is rarely necessary because cast iron holds and distributes heat efficiently. Brown ingredients on the stovetop, then add liquids and transfer to the oven if a recipe requires slow, even cooking. Use wooden, silicone or heat-resistant utensils to avoid scratching the enamel surface. Allow the pot to cool before cleaning.

What to consider before purchase

Recommendations

Use moderate heat settings, preheat gradually, and dry thoroughly before storage. For best results in braising and stewing, sear ingredients first, then finish covered at low oven temperature to preserve moisture and develop flavors.
