JUCO traditionele axtwig 1,2 kg gesmede stalen kloofwig

When you're out in the forest with a pile of rounds that refuse to split, the JUCO Traditional Axe Wedge is the tool you reach for. Drive it into the end grain with a sledgehammer or maul, and its tapered profile forces the wood apart along the grain. Forged from high-carbon steel and finished with a protective red paint, this 1.2 kg wedge is built to take repeated blows without deforming.

Key specifications

• Weight: 1.2 kg (2.65 lbs)
• Material: Forged high-carbon steel
• Type: Traditional splitting wedge
• Striking surface: Flat and hardened
• Tip: Pointed for easy insertion
• Finish: Painted red for visibility and rust protection
• Application: Manual wood splitting

Why choose it

The JUCO Traditional Axe Wedge delivers reliable splitting power without the complexity of mechanical splitters. Its forged steel construction resists chipping and mushrooming, while the painted surface helps prevent corrosion when stored outdoors. The pointed tip bites into the log quickly, and the wide taper generates strong lateral force to crack even tough, knotty wood.

Ideal use cases

• Splitting large rounds that are too big for a single axe blow
• Working with hardwoods like oak, beech, or ash
• Forestry, firewood preparation, and garden maintenance
• Use with a sledgehammer or splitting maul

Good to know

To get the best results, start the wedge with a few light taps to set it, then strike firmly. Keep the striking face clean and free of burrs. After use, wipe the wedge dry and store it in a dry place to extend its life. Always wear safety glasses and gloves when splitting wood.
