Kabel-gender-changer RJ-45 ShiverPeaks BS08-01045

The ShiverPeaks BS08-01045 Cable Gender Changer RJ-45 is a compact inline adapter that converts or connects two RJ-45 terminated network cables. With two RJ-45 female ports in a slim silver housing, it provides a straightforward way to join Ethernet cables, change connector gender, or adapt cable runs without re-terminating ends. The adapter is designed for standard 8P8C modular plugs and supports typical twisted-pair Ethernet cabling used in home and office networks.

Advantages

This gender changer offers a simple mechanical solution for joining or converting RJ-45 cables while maintaining reliable electrical contact between 8P8C connectors. Its compact form factor and metal-colored finish make it unobtrusive in patch panels, wall plates, or desktop cabling setups. The device requires no power or configuration and can be used immediately to resolve compatibility issues between cable ends.

Suitable for

• Extending or joining Ethernet patch cables
• Adapting cable ends when changing network layouts
• Temporary network setups, testing, or diagnostics
• Home and small office structured cabling adjustments

Key specifications

• Connector type: two RJ-45 (8P8C) female ports
• Supported cabling: twisted-pair Ethernet cables (Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6 and similar)
• Construction: compact inline adapter with metal-colored finish
• Power: passive, no external power required
• Usage environment: indoor networking applications

How to use

Insert the RJ-45 plug of one Ethernet cable into one female port and the plug of the second cable into the opposite port. Ensure each connector is fully seated until the latch clicks for reliable contact. Use the adapter to join patch cables for a temporary extension or to change connector orientation when reorganizing a network; avoid repeated frequent disconnections to minimize wear on cable ends.

Recommendations

Use the adapter for short, non-permanent extensions and where signal integrity over longer distances is not critical. For permanent or long-distance runs, consider using a single continuous cable or a coupler designed to maintain specified category performance to ensure optimal network speed and reliability.
