Kabel-gender-changer RJ-45 ShiverPeaks BS71220-8

The ShiverPeaks BS71220-8 Cable Gender Changer RJ-45 is a compact inline connector designed to join two RJ-45 cables to extend network runs or change plug orientation. The adapter features gold-plated contacts for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance and comes in a black housing sized for standard Ethernet patch cables. It is intended to provide a simple physical link between two male RJ-45 terminated cables without altering signal characteristics.

Advantages

This RJ-45 gender changer offers reliable electrical contact through gold-plated pins, helping to maintain consistent data transmission. Its compact black housing minimizes desk and rack space usage while providing mechanical stability for connected cables. The passive design requires no power or configuration, making it a straightforward solution for temporary or permanent cable joins. Built for general networking environments, it supports common Ethernet patch cable types and typical office or home networking setups.

Suitable for

• Extending Ethernet patch cables in office or home networks
• Connecting two terminated RJ-45 cables where a female-to-female adapter is required
• Temporary network changes, testing, or troubleshooting cabling
• Patch panels and switch-to-switch short links in confined spaces

Key specifications

• Connector type: RJ-45 female to RJ-45 female inline adapter
• Contact plating: gold-plated contacts for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance
• Housing color: black
• Design: passive, no electronic components or power requirement
• Compatibility: standard 8P8C Ethernet patch cables (Cat5e/Cat6 depending on cable quality)

How to use

Insert the male plug of each RJ-45 cable into the adapter’s female ports until the locking tabs click into place. Ensure both cables are seated fully to maintain proper contact. The adapter functions immediately after connection and does not require configuration. To disconnect, depress the cable’s latch and pull the connector straight out. Inspect contacts periodically for dirt or corrosion if used in dusty or humid environments.

Recommendations

For best performance, use with well-terminated patch cables and avoid subjecting the adapter to excessive pulling, twisting, or mechanical strain. When used with high-speed Ethernet, prefer high-quality Cat5e or Cat6 cables and keep overall link length within standards for the chosen cable category.
