Advantages

Staedtler Noris colour pencils feature break-resistant leads with uniform pigmentation for even strokes and dependable color saturation. The wooden casings are manufactured to provide comfortable grip and sharpen evenly to a fine point suited for detail work. These pencils perform well for layering and blending, allowing gradual build-up of tones and subtle shading. Their balanced hardness makes them suitable for both controlled line work and broader color fills.

Key specifications

• Number of colors: 36
• Lead type: wax-based colored leads
• Barrel material: high-quality wood
• Finish: painted barrels with color indication
• Suitable surfaces: paper, sketchbook paper, mixed media paper
• Usage: drawing, shading, layering and blending

How to use

Select pencils according to the tones required for your composition. Start with light pressure when laying down base colors, then build up intensity through successive layers and cross-hatching or circular motions to achieve smooth transitions. Sharpen to a fine point for detailed lines and maintain a slightly blunted tip for even color fills. Combine different hardness strokes to vary texture and depth; erase gently if needed and reapply color over corrected areas.

Recommendations

For best results, use a quality sharpener designed for colored pencils and work on medium-weight paper to prevent bleed-through. To blend colors smoothly, overlay with lighter colors first and use small circular motions or a colorless blender pencil. Store the pencils in a dry place and keep them capped or in the original box to protect leads from breakage.
