Kleurpotlood Staedtler 146C M72

The Staedtler 146C M72 colour pencil is made in Germany and delivers consistent, richly pigmented color for drawing, sketching and coloring. Its hexagonal wooden barrel provides a comfortable, secure grip for extended use and precise control. The core is formulated for smooth application and good lightfastness, helping finished works retain their tone and intensity over time. The pencil sharpens cleanly, producing a resilient lead tip suitable for fine details as well as broader strokes when slightly blunted.

Advantages

The pencil offers smooth, even color laydown with pigments that resist fading and provide intense coverage. The hexagonal shape reduces rolling and increases handling comfort during long sessions. High-quality wood and a well-centered pigment core enable easy sharpening and minimize breakage, while the formulation of the core balances softness for blending with enough firmness for precision.

Suitable for

• Detailed illustration and line work
• Coloring books and school art projects
• Layering and blending techniques
• Sketching and concept studies

Key specifications

• Origin: manufactured in Germany
• Barrel shape: hexagonal for grip and anti-roll
• Lead type: pigmented colour core for vibrant tones
• Lightfastness: formulated to resist fading for longer-lasting color
• Sharpening: suitable for standard sharpeners, produces a durable tip
• Recommended surfaces: paper types for drawing and coloring

How to use

Sharpen the pencil with a standard hand or mechanical sharpener designed for artist pencils to expose a clean, centered tip. Apply pressure according to desired effect: light pressure for subtle shading and layering, firmer pressure for saturated color. Combine strokes using cross-hatching or circular motions to achieve even coverage, and blend multiple colours by layering from light to dark. Clean any residue from the sharpener and maintain a sharp tip for precise details.

Recommendations

The Staedtler 146C M72 colour pencil is suited for artists, students and hobbyists seeking reliable pigment performance. Store pencils horizontally or in a pencil case to protect points, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to preserve colour integrity, and test blending and lightfastness on a scrap of the intended paper before working on final pieces.
