Mobilrahmen-adapterkaart icy dock MB204MP-1B — 4 × M.2 NVMe SSD hot-swap-mobilrahmen

The icy dock MB204MP-1B is a mobile rack adapter card that fits into a single 3.5" drive bay and accommodates four M.2 NVMe SSDs on a removable carrier. It provides hot-swap access to multiple NVMe drives without the need to open the chassis, streamlining drive installation, maintenance and replacement for servers, workstations and storage arrays that require dense, serviceable NVMe storage.

Advantages

This mobile rack adapter consolidates up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs into one 3.5" bay, reducing required bay space while maintaining individual drive access. The removable carrier supports hot-swapping, which allows quick replacement or upgrade of drives without powering down the system. The design simplifies cable and drive management and enables faster servicing in rackmount and tower systems. It is compatible with a variety of M.2 NVMe form factors and supports tool-less insertion of SSDs into the carrier for efficient onsite maintenance.

Suitable for

• Server and data center NVMe storage consolidation
• Workstation high-speed local storage expansion
• RAID or caching implementations requiring easy drive access
• Environments where frequent drive replacement or upgrades are needed

Key specifications

• Fits a standard 3.5" drive bay with a removable M.2 NVMe carrier
• Supports up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs on a single carrier
• Hot-swap functionality via removable tray for live drive replacement
• Compatible with common M.2 NVMe SSD lengths (single-sided and double-sided depending on chassis clearance)
• Durable metal carrier and bay construction for repeated servicing

How to use

Install the adapter into a free 3.5" bay following standard chassis procedures and connect required internal NVMe or backplane interfaces as applicable to your system. Mount M.2 NVMe SSDs into the removable carrier, secure them according to the carrier's mounting points, then slide the carrier into the bay until it locks in place. To replace drives, unlock and extract the carrier while the system is running (if supported by your platform), swap the SSDs, and reinsert the carrier ensuring proper seating and connection. Verify drive detection in firmware or operating system after insertion.

Recommendations

Ensure your motherboard, backplane or controller supports multiple NVMe devices and hot-swap operation before deploying the adapter. Confirm clearance for double-sided M.2 modules if planning to use thicker or high-capacity SSDs. Use proper ESD precautions when handling M.2 SSDs and follow server or workstation maintenance procedures to avoid interruption of critical services during drive replacement.
